چکیده

Donor-specific HLA antibodies are responsible for most early renal allograft rejections and allograft losses. Therefore, detection of HLA antibodies prior to transplantation is an important step in the evaluation of renal allograft recipients. In this mini-review we will describe recent advances in the techniques used to detect donor-specific HLA antibodies with emphasis on their potential application for patient management and their current limitations.

The Predictive Value of HLA-DR Matching and Cytokine Gene Polymorphisms in Renal Allograft Acute Rejection: A Living-unrelated Donor (LURD) Study

Background: In addition to Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) compatibility, gene polymorphisms in cytokines might also be important in the quality of allogeneic immune response. Objective: To evaluate the influence of HLA-DR matching and a number of cytokine gene polymorphisms on acute rejection after living-unrelated donor (LURD) kidney transplantation. Methods: A total of 42 renal transplants pe...

Utility of HLA Antibody Testing in Kidney Transplantation.

HLA antigens are polymorphic proteins expressed on donor kidney allograft endothelium and are critical targets for recipient immune recognition. HLA antibodies are risk factors for acute and chronic rejection and allograft loss. Solid-phase immunoassays for HLA antibody detection represent a major advance in sensitivity and specificity over cell-based methods and are widely used in organ alloca...

Applications of Flow Cytometry in Solid Organ Allogeneic Transplantation

The implementation of flow cytometry assays in evaluation of transplant recipients began in 1983 when Garavoy et. al. applied this technology to study the in vitro production of HLA antibodies and observed that flow cytometric technology identified serum HLA antibody levels so low that the complement dependent cytotoxicity assays could not detect them. Since even low levels of antibodies have b...

Anti-HLA Antibodies and Kidney Allograft Outcomes in Recipients with Donor Bone Marrow Cell Infusion

Background: Anti-HLA-antibodies are known to affect the allograft survival in transplant recipient patients. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between anti-HLA antibodies and kidney allograft outcomes, particularly in recipients with concur-rent donor bone marrow cell infusion (DBMI). Methods: Between June 2006 and May 2007, forty living unrelated donor kidney tra...

REPORT OF 200 RENAL TRANSPLANTATIONS FROM LIVING DONORS

Two hundred cases of renal transplantation from living donors are reported from Shahid Hashemi Nejad Medical'Center in Iran. There were 127 male and 73 female patients with 67% in the third and fourth decade of life. All patients received grafts from living donors with 1 14 cases of HLA haploidentical, 55 cases of HLA identical matches and 24 unrelated donors. One year patient and graft su...
